Large Bird Cage
How to paint bird cage?
Just bought a large black bird cage made of iron.
How to I clean up the rusty part? (if it’s possible)
I will like to change the color to white or pink. Should I paint it or use a spray (what kind of spray do I use? And where can I buy it?)?
The cage will be used for my cockatoo.
Someone told me that it’s best to spray paint it. I don’t know if this is true or not.
how else can I change the “look” of a cage. Its quite large and I really want it to look nice in our living room.
Using spray paint is a risky business. Most are in some way harmful to the birds that will be chewing on it since there are few if any paints that can withstand that kind of wear and tear.
I would suggest having it sandblasted and then powder coated. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating ) This gives you the advantage of a uniform, very durable, and safe finish.
Just google Powder Coating in your area for a place that can do it.
